Strategy & Ops Lead

Full-timeMid-Senior Β· 4-8 yearsπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Toronto

Be the first dedicated strategy hire at a fast-growing sports and trading-card collectibles app, working directly with the CEO on cash flow, inventory, financing and the next big bets.

The opportunity

The hiring client is a Toronto-based consumer startup that turns collecting into play: users rip packs of real trading cards (TCG and sports) from anywhere and collect rewards along the way. It is built by the team behind a sports prediction app with millions of users, is backed by Union Square Ventures, KB Partners and Kevin Durant's 35 Ventures, and has crossed eight figures in GMV.

This is the company's first dedicated strategy hire. You will report to the CEO and work with the VP Product, VP Growth and the leadership team to find blind spots and fix them before they get expensive. Because the business sells physical goods, the work comes with real inventory, cash-flow, regulatory and operational complexity. This is a high-intensity, hands-on role, not a slide-deck role.

What you will do

  • Own forecasting, cash flow and financing options, and help tell a sharp story when the company raises.
  • Make the inventory bets, model unit economics and make sure operations scale ahead of demand.
  • Spot tax, legal and regulatory risks early, including the ones nobody has thought of yet.
  • Build the case for new markets, categories and partnerships, then negotiate the terms and chase the timeline until it lands.
  • Help leadership work out who the team is missing, how to find them and how to keep everyone shipping.

What you will bring

  • 4-8 years in strategy, BizOps or finance, ideally consulting, banking or PE followed by a high-growth consumer, e-commerce or marketplace company.
  • Exceptional drive and agency: you see what needs doing and do it without waiting for a brief or a perfect dataset.
  • AI-native working habits: you use AI tools daily to research, model, analyze and automate.
  • Fluency in the numbers: forecasts, unit economics and cash-flow models built without a template.
  • Experience with physical goods, inventory or logistics, or the appetite to get your hands dirty in them.
  • Real deal-negotiation experience and the willingness to bring the counter-argument to leadership.
  • Excellent written communication, and some interest in TCGs, sports cards or collectibles.

Why consider it

A seat at the leadership table of a high-velocity startup with real revenue and real users, unusually broad scope, and a shot at defining gamified collectibles commerce. Compensation is CAD 120K-160K plus equity. The role is on-site in Toronto.
